Instagram is a photo-led social network, and there is no avoiding networking on it, using it to engage people, widen your reach, build interest and awareness and — why not — sell and make money with Instagram.
More and more people and companies want to grow their Instagram profile, and using likes and comments on Instagram is one way to do it.
Using likes on Instagram and comments on Instagram matters for these reasons:
1. If you build a profile with plenty of followers, more will come.
2. The more comments and likes you leave on profiles you care about or that share your subject, the better the chance those profiles will do the same for yours.
3. If you generate plenty of likes on Instagram and grow your followers, some of them will visit your website too.
4. Likes and comments create engagement and interaction, so the more you create, the more relationships you build with other users, the easier it becomes to get likes, followers and comments — and if you strike up a friendship with someone, you might end up working together.

Instagram’s algorithm works like this: if you get plenty of likes in the first few minutes (after various tests we would say up to 30 minutes), Instagram pushes your photo, image or video and shows it to more people.

The aim should be that the people liking your posts are interested in what you are putting out and have a bigger profile than yours.
How do you make that happen? Through Instagram groups.
What you have to do is build pockets of people interested in your subject, working in your field or matching your audience. Gather people together and create several groups. You can create them in the Direct area, using Instagram’s chat.
How do likes and comments work in this case?
The members of your group are selected people who publish quality content, so when someone posts, comments and likes start flowing between you, which raises Instagram’s read on how interesting that photo is — and Instagram will happily show it.
How do you create Instagram groups?
- Search out and select profiles similar to yours. You can do that by typing your niche’s hashtag into search and then looking for profiles inside hashtags that aren’t too popular (above three million posts there is no point).
- Pick profiles that get fewer than a thousand likes per photo.
- Choose the people you will invite into your group (10 to 20).
- The profiles you choose should post quality content and post often.
- Write an invitation message to those profiles and wait for replies (you can email if an address is listed).
- When someone accepts, create the group: send a direct message to the people who want in — tap the (+) icon and select the users.
- Set out the group’s rules in your first message: you share the photo you posted on Instagram in the group and everyone tries to like and comment quickly.
- Show that you have liked and commented on the other members’ posts too — just open the photo in the group and double-tap the heart.
- Keep the group engaged and you will earn its trust.
- Message the members asking to be added to their groups in turn, so that you end up in many groups and raise your chances of getting more Instagram likes and more Instagram comments.
