Instagram posts on your website
Working on your site or blog and want to give your Instagram page some attention as well? Heard there are plugins you can install in WordPress that let you embed Instagram content on your site?
How does it work?
You can embed both single Instagram posts and whole Instagram feeds into your website. To do an Instagram embed we can install a plugin. Which one? The choice is hard because there are a great many, but we will look at a few together.
Some social networks — Instagram among them — even let you add posts and feeds to a site through a native feature that generates the Instagram embed code very quickly, so you can embed content from Instagram on your site.
How do you use the native Instagram embed feature?
On desktop, open the photo or video you want to embed on your site. Find the “Share” button on the right. That gives you the code to embed the Instagram post in your web page.
When you embed a post on your site, the post owner’s handle is displayed with a direct link to their profile, one click away.
Naturally this only works for public profiles whose content is visible to everyone. So you will not be able to embed Instagram content on your site if the person has set their profile to private.

Instagram feeds or posts on your site: plugins to install
Beyond Instagram’s native features there are various plugins you can install on WordPress to bring Instagram posts and feeds into your site simply and quickly.
We picked a few, the best in our view, so you can choose for yourself.
1. InstaShow
This is perhaps the most complete plugin of the lot. Not only can you embed Instagram content on your site, you can also build photo galleries using the images on an Instagram profile.
How those images are displayed and laid out is entirely up to you.
2. Instagram Feed
This plugin lets you show images of different sizes embedded in your website. You can pull images from different Instagram accounts, responsively, and give readers and visitors a CTA (call to action) that lets them follow your profile with a click.
3. Instagram Slider Widget
Very simple to use, this plugin displays the last 24 images posted by any Instagram account on your site, private profiles aside. Embedded Instagram posts can be shown as thumbnails or inside a slider.
Each image can carry a link: to the Instagram profile in question, a custom link to another site or a landing page, or no link at all.
4. Enjoy Instagram
Through a widget or a small piece of code, this plugin lets you embed Instagram content carrying specific hashtags on your blog. The photos appear on your site as a carousel or a grid.
If you choose the grid, you can set the number of rows and columns and add a fade effect between images.
These are of course only some of the plugins you can install for the effect you want. In a few simple steps you make your site look far more professional.

Instagram embed: what about stories?
We have seen how to put Instagram feeds and posts on our site or blog, but there is another option: embedding stories.
There are essential conditions before we can do that. The main one is having the Instagram profile in question connected to a Facebook page.
If you want to do an Instagram embed with stories, follow these steps:
- Go to the Fastory site (https://widget.fastory.io/)
- Click the “Get your widget” CTA
- Authorise the app through your Facebook account
- Select the Instagram account whose stories you want to take
- Validate the Instagram account: open the Facebook page linked to the account, click Settings and look for Instagram in the left-hand menu to log in
- Get the script for streaming the Instagram stories
- Paste the script into a WordPress widget or into your site’s HTML
