Facebook app download: a few simple steps
To download Facebook you don’t need to have a computer handy — you can download the Facebook app directly on your smartphone, and even from a tablet.
Signing up in the app also takes just a few simple steps, so let’s not waste any more time and get going.
First of all, don’t worry: the app is free, and the steps to follow and the settings are all in your own language, so it will be a piece of cake.
The Facebook app is available for Apple and Android, but also for Windows phones. There are also other apps within the Facebook ecosystem that we’ll talk about in this lesson, and you can decide whether or not to download them.
Let’s begin our journey into the world of the Facebook app with the first step: the Facebook App download. The first thing to do is open your operating system’s dedicated platform for downloading apps — that app installed on every smartphone that lets you download the other apps you’re interested in and need.

iOS
If you own an iPhone or iPad, follow these instructions:
- Open the “App Store” app, the virtual store you go to every time you want to download a new app.
- Once you’re in the store, go to the search section and type “Facebook”.
- In the search results, tap the icon of the Facebook social network (the blue icon with a centered F) and tap “Get/Install”.
- Before the installation starts, whether the app is free or paid, you’ll be asked for your ID (usually the pre-selected email saved from when you first set up your iPhone) and your password. On more recently manufactured phones, the ones with fingerprint or even Face ID, you can use recognition; otherwise, if your iPhone is a bit on the older side, enter the password manually.
- When the download of your Facebook app is complete, the label changes to “Open”. Tap it and the app will open automatically.
Android
To download Facebook on an Android device, the process is just as simple:
- Android’s virtual store is called the “Play Store”.
- On this operating system too, use the search function (the magnifying glass) and search for the Facebook App.
- Among the search results, look for the blue icon with the centered F and tap “Install” and “Accept”.
- When the process is finished, tap “Open”.
Windows phone
If you’re one of the few who still owns a Windows Phone, don’t worry — the process will be very simple for you too.
This smartphone has a virtual store as well, the Windows Phone Store, and the procedure is the same:
- Magnifying glass.
- Type Facebook.
- Select the blue icon with the centered F, tap “Install” and “Allow”.
- Wait for the Facebook App download to finish.

Facebook App: signing up and other useful information
Now that your Facebook app is downloaded onto your smartphone, you’re ready to set it up and sign up. Tap the Facebook icon and you’ll be faced with two options: “Sign Up” or “Log In”.
If you don’t have a profile yet, go ahead with the sign-up:
- Tap “Get Started” and choose whether to sign up with your email address or phone number.
- There will be a series of fields to fill in:
- First and last name
- Password setup
- Date of birth
- Gender selection
- You’ll be sent a verification code via SMS or email (depending on what you used when signing up).
- Enter it and you’re pretty much ready to go.
Setting up your Facebook profile
Once you’ve filled in the required fields, you can upload and set a profile picture and provide some additional personal information, such as where you work or the schools you attended.
The Facebook app will also ask whether you agree to connect all the contacts in your address book who are already on Facebook. Don’t worry — this step isn’t mandatory or binding, but it helps you speed up the process of building your Facebook community now that you’ve learned how to download the Facebook App and you’re ready for this journey into the world of social media.

Apps connected to Facebook
So far we’ve covered the steps to download Facebook and sign up for this social network.
As we mentioned at the beginning of this lesson, though, beyond the main Facebook App — where you browse around and discover what your friends, family and the brands you’ve chosen to follow are posting — there are some apps tied to the Facebook world that could come in handy.
We’re not talking about the two famous apps WhatsApp and Instagram, which belong to this big family through group ownership. These two apps are, in fact, connected to the Facebook world only when it comes to monetary and financial matters.
There are, however, two apps tied to the Facebook world, both free, that are worth mentioning for the fantastic advantages that can come from using them.
Let’s look at them together.
Facebook Messenger
Available for all the operating systems we mentioned earlier, this is the Facebook app dedicated to instant messaging. Automatically connected to your Facebook account, it lets you exchange files and messages with your contacts in a simple, direct way.
Facebook Pages Manager
If you work on Facebook actively and want to be able to manage your various ads from your smartphone too, this Facebook app is just what you need. You can review ads you’ve already created or build new ones, all directly from your smartphone.

Conclusion
To recap our journey to download the Facebook App, we’ve seen how to get it from the different virtual stores available for the main operating systems: iOS, Android and Windows Phone.
We went through the simple steps to sign up, and finally we saw that you can download Facebook apps connected to the main one — apps that are virtually tied to the Facebook world and offer you extra (and, let’s not forget, free) services that can add real value to how you use Facebook: staying in touch with friends and acquaintances, of course, but also — and above all — working with Facebook straight from your smartphone.
